"Huh?" Serena spoke groggily, then awake with a start. "AH WHAT WHATS HAPPENING???!"
”O-okay, well if you’re sure you’re going to be alright..” Cordie said hesitantly. Suddenly, it occured to her the mechanical device from earlier was still left unattended. “The thing!” she exclaimed. “We forgot it by the drop off!”.
"Are you positive that device is safe though?" Serena asked, worried. "We really don’t need any human encounters today," she said with a sigh.
It was true that Serena had reason. “Isupposeyou’reright…” Cordie answered. “You were the only one who got a real good look at it though, can you at least describe it?”.
Serena bit her lip in thought. “It was metallic. On one end it had a red bulb attached to a wire and on the other end it had a hook for…you know,” she shuddered, thinking about the pain it must have felt to have that device lodged into someone’s back.
Cordie nodded, satisfied with Serena’s description. By the looks of things, the sun was finally beginning to set, and it was doing so quickly. “I think it might be time.” she said. “Followme”.
Serena followed, still unsure about the whole ordeal. What if they kept the device and it let to humans hurting, or even killing them? Biting her lip, the white shark still followed the goblin shark through the waters to the drop off.
"Now, if Iamright, he should be somewhere around here. We could get his attention briefly while he’s on his way to feed on whatever’s up there at the surface…” Cordie paused. “If he’s in the mood to talk”.
And they waited. It took a little while, but at long last, a large shadowy figure could be seen, very slowly rising from the abyss in the distance.
Serena backed away behind Cordie, cautious of the mysterious figure. “Who’s he?” she asked the goblin shark warily, keeping her eyes set on the figure.
Cordie stifled her laughter. “You’d have to be pretty scared to back away from José. He’s harmless; won’t even touch you”. She swam forwards, trying to get the megamouth’s attention. "HEY, NERD!" she shouted. "A friend and I gotta ask to you about something! It’s urgent!".
José stopped in the middle of ascending. "… Urgent, you say?" he asked, in hopes that what they were about to say would slightly pique his curiosity. The megamouth picked up a little more speed and headed towards Serena and Cordie.
"I’m sure glad to see you again!" Cordie said, smiling as she hugged José.
"Ah yes," he replied, pushing the goblin shark away. "You managed to spot me before I surface to feed, and now we meet again. Your timing is impeccable. Amazing. Truely."
Serena gaped at the size of the megamouth. He was enormous. Massive. Bigger than Bruce at any chance. Although she wasn’t scared anymore- as she knew megamouths posed little threat to other sharks- Serena still stood stunned.
